ANASTACIA LOPEZ LOPEZ (SHE/HER)
3rd International Chief
Nanzin Anastacia Lopez Lopez is an internationally reknown Nahuahablante from canton El Caulote, Santo Domingo de Guzman. A long-time Member of ANIS and former Board Member, Nanzin Anastacia was called to serve as the International Tribal Chief in the midst of the COVID-19 global pandemic, after being elected by unanimous vote by the International Council. She founded the ANIS virtual Nawat language school, Tamachtiluyan Shuchikisa An Ne Nawat, where she has taught Nawat language, Singing in Nawat, and Nawat LGBTQIA+ Studies. She currently lives in and leads from canton El Caulote. She hopes to be able to physically be with the diasporic Salvadoran Indian community in the DC Metropolitan area.
MARGARITO CRESPIN ESQUINO (HE/HIM)
2nd International Chief
As the son of the 2nd Chief of ANIS, Tahzin Adrian Esquino Lisco, Margarito Crespin Esquino inherited the International Chieftainship in a sacred ceremony. Crespin Esquino continued his father's work in the DMV-region, and organized extensively with the Piscataway Indian Nation.
However, in the background, Margarito Crespin Esquino was plotting against the community members he was sworn to protect as their Cheif. Crespin Esquino targeted undocumented migrants and stole thousands of dollars from vulnerable individuals and families. After brave individuals went forward to denounce Crespin Esquino, he was charged with a felony Theft-Scheme, for stealing between $10,000-$100,000.
The International chapter of ANIS was destablized, as Margarito Crespin Esquino abandoned ANIS and created a new organization, Madre Tierra, naming himself Casique Vitalicio.
In 2021, ANIS Chief Vitalicio Hilario Crespin Esquino, officially removed his brother from his position as International Chief, and established an International Council to elect a new Chief, and repair the damages created by Margarito Crespin Esquino.
The Hereditary Chieftainship of the Esquino Family was abolished by the International Council and a process of electing a Chief was established.
ADRIAN ESQUINO LISCO (HE/HIM)
1st International Chief
As one of the Founders of ANIS, and the son of the first Chief of ANIS, Rosendo Esquino Ceren, Tahzin Adrian inherited the title of Casique. His International work included community relations with the Piscataway Indian Nation and the American Indian Movement, and advocacy in US Congress for the support of Indigenous Salvadoran people.
